Join us for a weekend of steam hauled services with visiting Caledonian Railway No. 828!
We’re delighted to announce the visit of Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 812 Class No. 828 courtesy of the Caledonian Railway 828 Trust and Strathspey Railway and the first time the engine will be in steam for the public is this Scottish Steam Up weekend on 2nd & 3rd April! The Spa Valley Railway first started discussing the prospect of 828 visiting back in 2019 and we are extremely grateful to the Caledonian Railway 828 Trust and Strathspey Railway for making this visit possible.

Spring Steam Up Event
During our Spring Steam Up you will be able to travel behind No. 828 and also Hunslet Austerity No. 2890 which is on long term loan to the Spa Valley Railway.

It is hoped that Andrew Barclay No. 2315 'Lady Ingrid' will also be in steam for this event following overhaul. No. 2315 is also a Scottish engine having been built by Andrew Barclay in 1951 for the South of Scotland Electricity Board and was deployed at the Braehead Power Station in Renfrew on the south bank of the River Clyde.

828 and 2890 will haul the majority of trains up and down the High Weald during this event with a two train service in operation and subject to availability 2315 hauling our Queen Mary Brake Van between Tunbridge Wells West & Groombridge.
