The home of well-loved writer Rudyard Kipling, Bateman's is nestled within the peaceful landscape of the Sussex Weald. Enter this Jacobean house and see his original writing desk, as well as the lily pond and rose garden designed by Kipling himself. Then follow the meandering path along the River Dudwell, and through the wildflower meadow to the 17th-century working watermill.
As apart of the Heritage Open Days festival, free entry will be availabe on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th September. Bring along your well-loved books for some TLC from conservation experts at a special pop-up Book Hospital event in the house.
